Meditation has numerous health benefits.  It helps the mind to focus only on chosen aspects like sounds, the body or the breathing.  By doing this, the consciousness have a chance to be still and in harmony.  In normal situations, it’s being bombarded with more than thousands of inputs each day and several inputs simultaneously at basically any given moment.

With meditation, the body and the mind have a chance to rest, repair and reload.  Feel-good hormones like oxytocin and serotonin are being released and the body enters a state of level known as the parasympathetic neural system where blood pressure is being reduced as well as the heartbeat rate and stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline.

By letting the mind focus only on a specific spot with full attention, the concentration level in general is being increased.  In the long term, a natural calmness settles in which is very important to fight stress.  A new approach towards stress is adopted in which stressors are viewed in an objective fashion rather than an emotional fashion.  Hence, stressors are significantly reduced in importance and seriousness for the mind.

Meditation is also good for the sleep quality, the immune system, anxiety, depression and the psyche.
