Physicians in residency training are in risk for depression due to several factors, such as heavy work hours. However, how bad this risk is varies in different studies.

Aim

To assess the prevalence of depression in or depressive symptoms among resident physicians.

Results/Conclusion

In this systematic review, the prevalence of depression or depressive symptoms among resident physicians was 28.8%, ranging between 20.9% to 43.2%.

The results show that physicians in training have a high risk of depression or depressive symptoms.
