The kidneys are life essential organs – you simply cannot live without them.

Kidney disease is sometimes seen in patients with diabetes and high blood pressure. However, a new study suggest that lack of sleep could also increase your risk for kidney disease.

Aim

To evaluate the relationship between sleep and the risk of kidney disease in women.

Results/Conclusion

A 65% increased risk of rapid decline in kidney function was seen in women who slept 5 hours or less, compared to women who slept seven to eight hours per night.  Your sleep seems to be important for your kidney health as well.
