There has been several articles on alcohol and its effects on our health recently.

Aim

To assess if wine is beneficial for those with diabetes.

Results

Red wine significantly increased the good cholesterol (HDL) and decreased the total cholesterol level.  Other benefits such as improvement in blood sugar and insuline resistance was also seen.  Moreover, compared to those drinking water, red wine further reduced the number of components of the metabolic syndrome.

Conclusion

According to this study, moderate red wine intake is safe and modestly decreases cardiometabolic risk among patients with well-controlled diabetes as part of a healthy diet.
